South Sudan’s Ministry of ICT and Postal Services, in collaboration with MTN South Sudan, has launched a new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Hub in Bor, Jonglei State, aimed at equipping young people with essential digital skills to enhance employment and innovation opportunities.

The hub will offer youth access to computers, internet connectivity, and digital training programs, enabling them to build skills in areas such as online communication, basic IT, digital entrepreneurship, and e-learning. This initiative forms part of the government’s wider commitment to narrowing the digital divide and supporting youth empowerment across the country.

During the launch, MTN South Sudan also announced a partnership with global online learning platform Coursera. Through this collaboration, young people will have access to free certified online courses in technology, business, and personal development—expanding their career prospects locally and internationally.

Despite recent progress, South Sudan still faces major digital inclusion challenges, with internet penetration estimated at only 15.7% in 2025. The new ICT hub is therefore expected to play a key role in promoting connectivity and digital literacy, especially in underserved regions.

This initiative adds to ongoing efforts by MTN to expand digital training centers across South Sudan, including the Tech Hub established in the Mangateen IDP Camp and another e-commerce training facility in Juba. These programs aim to improve digital access, strengthen entrepreneurship, and support long-term socio-economic growth.
