Air Burkina has taken another step towards rebuilding its network by adding a second Embraer 190 aircraft to its fleet, reinforcing efforts to revive domestic and regional air connectivity after a challenging period.
The aircraft, received on October 30, 2025, forms part of the carrier’s recovery plan following a two-year operational suspension driven by financial constraints. Air Burkina resumed flights in October 2024 and has been gradually restoring services to key markets.
With the additional Embraer jet, the airline aims to strengthen its presence on both domestic and regional routes, enhancing links between Ouagadougou and major West African destinations. The revamped network is expected to improve travel between the capital and Bobo-Dioulasso while boosting regional flights to cities including Cotonou, Abidjan, Accra, Bamako, Niamey, and Lomé.
This expansion aligns with Burkina Faso’s broader aviation strategy, which includes the development of a new international airport to replace the current Ouagadougou-Taamsê facility. Authorities view improved air transport as essential for economic growth, trade, and mobility across the country and the region.
The airline’s continued fleet development marks a key milestone in its turnaround strategy, signaling renewed ambition to re-establish Air Burkina as a competitive regional carrier.
