Raxio Group has officially launched a $30 million Tier III data center in Angola, marking a major step forward in the country’s digital transformation. The new facility, located in Cacuaco, Luanda, is designed to strengthen Angola’s digital economy by expanding data hosting capacity, improving connectivity, and reducing reliance on overseas infrastructure.

Built on a 19,000-square-meter campus, the data center offers an initial IT load capacity of 3 megawatts and space for over 800 racks. Raxio plans to scale capacity to more than 7 megawatts over the next five years. The carrier-neutral facility is supported by two independent substations, backup generators, and advanced cooling systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Sustainability is central to the project, with about 70% of its energy sourced from renewables. The center also incorporates energy-efficient cooling and an on-site water treatment system that recycles water for cooling and irrigation.

Strategically located near undersea cable landing stations, the facility also hosts Angola’s Internet Exchange Point (IXP), enabling faster, more reliable internet services while lowering costs by keeping local traffic within the country.

This investment aligns with Angola’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional technology hub. With the country’s digital market projected to grow by nearly 17% annually through 2030, Raxio’s expansion will play a key role in meeting rising demand for data services, fostering innovation, and supporting the growth of local businesses and startups.
