Norwegian renewable energy developer Empower New Energy has commissioned a 1.1 MW photovoltaic solar plant to supply power to L’Oréal Egypt’s factory in the city of 10th of Ramadan.
The facility is expected to produce around 1.6 GWh of clean electricity annually, cutting over 800 metric tons of CO₂ emissions each year. The project supports L’Oréal’s global sustainability plan, which targets a 57% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a full shift to 100% renewable energy by 2030.
Financed entirely through equity investment, the plant was completed without relying on debt, enabling faster delivery.
The project also strengthens Empower New Energy’s footprint in Egypt’s industrial and commercial solar market. It follows the company’s $50 million agreement with local firm Engazaat in December 2024 to fund a 40 MW solar portfolio, and its June 2025 launch of a solar program for Nigeria’s Justrite retail chain.
