French aerospace group Safran has announced an investment of more than €280 million (about $305 million) to build a major aircraft landing-gear manufacturing facility in Nouaceur, marking another milestone in Morocco’s rise as a global aerospace production hub. The project was officially launched on February 13, 2026, during a ceremony chaired by Mohammed VI, underscoring the strategic importance the country places on advancing high-value industrial sectors. The facility will be located within the Midparc industrial platform and is set to become one of the company’s largest global sites dedicated to landing-gear systems, covering more than seven hectares and designed to operate using decarbonized energy sources.
Once operational, the plant is expected to create around 500 skilled jobs while strengthening local expertise in precision engineering and advanced manufacturing. It will produce landing-gear components for the A320 family of aircraft manufactured by Airbus, supporting one of the world’s most in-demand commercial aviation programmes. Activities at the site will include high-precision machining, assembly, testing, and maintenance of complex systems that rank among the most technically demanding parts of an aircraft due to stringent safety and certification requirements.
The investment reflects a broader trend among aerospace companies to position production closer to European assembly lines, improving supply-chain resilience and reducing logistical risks as global aircraft demand continues to grow. Building on more than two decades of industrial presence in the country, the new project follows earlier initiatives in engine manufacturing and signals a long-term strategy to establish a comprehensive aerospace ecosystem capable of delivering both propulsion and landing-system technologies. Authorities see the development as a catalyst for attracting additional suppliers, expanding technical training opportunities, and increasing export capacity, further positioning the nation as a competitive bridge between European markets and emerging industrial bases across Africa.
